Ask for a vehicle and a complete rate

Start with exact collection and return times, the branch and the vehicle or booking group. An economy-class reservation with an equivalent-car rule is a different promise from a named car. Check transmission, seats and usable luggage space, then add the people and equipment that must be included.

Ask for the total rental charge, taxes, required fees and chosen extras in one written quote. Confirm delivery and collection separately, the additional-driver charge and any child seat. A cheaper headline is not a cheaper complete agreement when these fields differ.

Payment, security and cover are three decisions

First establish how the rental bill can be paid. Then establish how the deposit is taken. A debit card accepted for online payment does not necessarily satisfy a credit-card requirement at collection. For example, the Avis Thailand record distinguishes prepayment from pickup security.

Ask whose name must be on the card, what amount is authorised, whether physical presentation is required and how the hold is released. Leave room for any stated processing period after return. Finally, read the cover and excess. The Budget record preserves a disagreement between branch and national LDW wording. A published hold is not proof that a particular rate includes protection, and it is not a universal limit on damage liability.

Look for conditions that change with the hire length

Check mileage, delivery and early-return rules for the selected rate. The MAKS record describes different mileage conditions for shorter hires and a seven-day threshold on its Yaris page. Confirm that the selected vehicle and delivery address qualify instead of applying one model’s terms to every car.

Write down any per-kilometre charge, permitted area, fuel policy and late-return charge. Ask whether an extension uses the original rate, needs approval or requires a new agreement. Returning early may leave the original prepaid cost unchanged if that is what the applicable cancellation and refund terms say.

Compare two offers without mixing the numbers

Make three separate lines: the cost of the hire, the security to be provided and the possible liability under the actual cover. Subtract rent already paid only from rent still due. Record a lodged deposit only against the security balance. Do not subtract a deposit from the policy’s excess or present the excess as the limit for every excluded loss.
