How much does scooter rental cost in Pattaya?

A basic 110–125cc automatic scooter in Pattaya typically rents for roughly 200–300 baht a day, much less per day by the week, and far less again by the month. But the daily rate is only part of the cost — the deposit, the fuel policy and the insurance matter just as much. Treat every figure here as orientation, and confirm on the day.
Daily rates
For the scooter most visitors actually rent — a small automatic, 110cc to 125cc, the Honda Click or Yamaha-style commuter — a daily rate in the region of 200 to 300 baht is typical. You will see lower, especially off-season or for an older bike; you will see higher near the busiest tourist strips or for a newer machine.
Step up in size and the rate climbs: a 150cc bike costs more, and a larger or sports motorcycle (300cc and up) is in a different bracket entirely. Pay for the bike you actually need — for getting around Pattaya, a small automatic is almost always enough.
Weekly and monthly rates
Rental in Pattaya rewards commitment. The longer you take the bike, the lower the per-day cost falls:
- A weekly rate is usually noticeably cheaper per day than seven separate daily rentals.
- A monthly rate is dramatically cheaper per day again — which is why long-stay visitors, digital nomads and expats almost always rent by the month.
If you are in Pattaya for more than a few days, ask for the weekly and monthly rate before you agree to anything daily. The saving is real.

What the price does — and does not — include
The headline rate usually buys you the bike and not much else. Check each of these before you assume it is covered:
- Helmet. Usually one basic helmet is included. A second helmet for a passenger may not be — ask.
- Insurance. Often minimal or none. Many Pattaya scooter rentals carry little real cover, and any cover can be void if you ride without a valid licence or helmet. Ask precisely what is included and get it in writing.
- Fuel. Scooters are usually handed over with very little fuel and expected back the same way. Clarify the fuel policy so it is not used as a return-day charge.
- The deposit. Separate from the rate, and the part most likely to go wrong — see below.
The cost the daily rate hides: the deposit
A low daily rate is meaningless if it comes attached to an oversized deposit on vague terms. The deposit is where rental money most often disappears in Pattaya. A fair deposit is a modest cash sum, returnable in full, with the terms written down — never your passport. Compare shops on the deposit as carefully as on the rate.
How to get a fair price
Ask for the weekly and monthly rate up front, even if you think you only want the bike for a few days. Plans change, and the longer rate is far better value.
Negotiate. Rates are not fixed. A longer rental, or paying up front, is leverage for a better price.
Compare the whole cost, not the headline. Daily rate plus deposit terms plus fuel policy plus what insurance, if any, is included.
Get the agreed price and terms in writing on the contract — rate, deposit, return time and fuel policy — so none of it can shift on return day.
