Scooter rental on a tourist visa in Pattaya

Thailand revised its visa-exemption and visa-on-arrival schemes in 2026. Eligibility and duration depend on nationality and entry route, so this page does not state a universal tourist period. Read the Department of Consular Affairs’ May 2026 revision notice and use the official Thai e-Visa portal where a visa application is needed.

Match the written hire period to the permission shown in your own immigration record. At pickup, document the identity requirement, deposit, contract and vehicle condition; the operator’s process does not establish your immigration or driving status.

At the counter

Ask the named operator for its identity-document requirement, security amount, completed contract and condition process. Keep the original passport and agree a documented alternative. See the first-time guide, passport policy, and deposit guide.

Licence and checkpoint documents

Thai government foreign-driver guidance recognises a valid Thai licence, a valid International Driving Permit, or an ASEAN member-state licence for eligible drivers. Return day and visa timing

Plan the signed return time against the permitted-stay record and onward travel. Extending stay mid-hire

Ask the operator about extension prices and availability in advance, but do not treat an expected immigration extension as approved. Once your permitted-stay record is confirmed, agree any revised rental end time, price and terms in writing before the existing hire expires.

International Driving Permit reminders

No weekly or monthly period is inherently better for a tourist entry. Compare the exact written hire term with the permitted-stay record, onward plan, unused-day terms and any extension uncertainty.

Confirm through current official sources which immigration and riding documents must be presented or carried. A tourist-visa or entry record does not replace motorcycle-valid riding documents.
