What the official export procedure requires

Thai Customs describes a special temporary-export declaration at the land checkpoint, not a casual drive-through. A non-owner must carry the owner’s authorisation, and the vehicle must return within the period recorded by Customs. The destination country may impose additional vehicle, driver or insurance requirements; verify those with its authorities before travel.

Check domestic territory separately

A domestic drive toward a border and an international vehicle exit are different acts. Check the contract’s permitted territory before departure and photograph the clause; do not assume a domestic destination is allowed merely because it remains inside Thailand. Overnight border runs and late return

Border processing may affect return timing. Extend the hire in writing before departure if the planned return could fall outside the contract, and treat international exit as unapproved unless the owner has authorised it explicitly.
