Lost deposit receipt for scooter rental in Pattaya
A lost paper receipt leaves an evidence gap. Preserve the signed contract, payment trail, messages and return record, then ask the operator to reconcile all available records in writing.

A contract entry, receipt photo, bank or PromptPay record, messages and the operator’s duplicate can support the payment history. None is guaranteed to be sufficient alone. Ask for the refund or refusal and its contractual basis in writing.
We found no authoritative Pattaya-wide figure for cash-deposit amounts or receipt formats. Whatever the operator uses, insist that the signed contract and receipt identify the security amount, currency, payment method and refund terms, then photograph both.
A refusal may reflect a bookkeeping problem, a contract dispute or something more serious; do not infer intent without evidence. Thailand’s OCPB says prescribed vehicle-rental contracts should state payment and security terms. See its official explanation and preserve all available proof.
Records that can support the payment history
Assess the records together. No single item automatically establishes the contract terms, payment, refund duty or outcome.
- Signed contract showing deposit amount, daily rate, return date, and bike plate or fleet number — see how to read the rental contract and keeping a copy.
- Photo of the receipt taken at the counter the same minute you paid — timestamp in your gallery matters.
- Your own completed PromptPay or bank-transfer record showing amount, recipient, date, status and reference; see PromptPay deposit refunds.
- Video or other contemporaneous record of cash payment where recording was permitted, kept with the contract and receipt details.
- LINE or WhatsApp messages identifying the deposit amount and booking. A message is contextual evidence, not a substitute for the signed terms.
Return day when the receipt is missing
Run the normal return routine first — film the walk-around before staff inspect, meet the signed fuel-return requirement, show pickup photos if new scratches are claimed. The full sequence is in return day in Pattaya.
State clearly that the slip is lost
Present the available contract, gallery, payment and message records without making an unsupported accusation.
Ask the operator to reconcile its records
If the operator has a duplicate receipt, ledger or payment record, compare its amount, currency, date and reference with yours. A match supports the transaction history but does not decide the refund.
Document repayment or release by the agreed method
For cash, count and receipt the amount; for a transfer, check your own completed incoming record; for a card hold, obtain the operator’s release reference and follow up with the issuer. Record any deduction and its stated contractual basis.
Escalate with evidence, not anger
See getting your deposit back and disputing a charge. Use OCPB on 1166 or complaint.ocpb.go.th for a deposit or consumer-contract complaint. Tourist Police 1155 is only for tourist assistance or translation; see the official-channel guide.
If the operator requests cash security
Acceptance methods are operator-specific. If cash is requested, require the signed agreement and receipt to state the amount, currency, security purpose, permitted deductions and return method. Read baht-only scooter deposits and the cash deposit guide.
If the operator uses a numbered receipt book
Ask how the receipt number connects to the contract, payment ledger and refund process. If a paper copy is unavailable, request a written acknowledgement of the amount received and the operator’s stated return or deduction basis. A missing record is a reason to pause and document, not proof of intent.
Return day step by step
A dated return-condition record can be compared with the pickup record and any written claim. It does not establish cause or guarantee a refund.
